Defining Success by the
People We Help

At Ann Coriden Law, we focus on estate planning and administration, business law, real estate disputes, and appellate practice. We use our experience to help our clients navigate complicated issues, resolve disputes, and plan for the future. Whether we are drafting a simple lease or a complex estate plan, we provide practical and honest advice and the highest quality legal representation.

Ann Coriden, Attorney

Prior to forming Ann Coriden Law, Ann worked at Coriden Glover, where she focused on estate planning and administration, business formation, real estate law, and civil litigation and appeals.

Ann has also had the privilege of working as a Law Clerk at the Indiana Court of Appeals Chief for Judge Sanford S. Brook (2001-2002) and as a Deputy Senior Clerk for the Honorable Michael P. Barnes (2002-2015). As a law clerk, Ann gained extensive legal research and writing experience in all areas of Indiana law, allowing her to advocate for her clients at both the trial and appellate levels. In private practice, Ann has successfully argued cases to the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Supreme Court.

Ann graduated from Ohio University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She then attended law school at the University of Toledo, where she graduated cum laude and was on the University of Toledo Law Review. Columbus has been home to Ann since 2002, where she lives with her husband, Tim, and two sons, Pete and Danny.

Ann currently serves as the President of the Bartholomew County Historical Society and is a member of the Hoosier Hills Estate Planning Council, the Bartholomew County Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association.

Kristen Kirchner, Legal Assistant

Kristen was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University. Kristen and Ann have been working together since 2017.

Kristen feels honored to have been part of the respected and experienced legal team at Coriden Glover. She loves helping others and looks forward to using that passion to assist clients at Ann Coriden Law.

Kristen moved to Columbus in 2008, which is now home to Kristen and her son. They enjoy cooking, reading, and watching sports (preferably the Hoosiers) together.

Estate Planning

Estate planning gives you the peace of mind of designating who will receive your property when you pass away. Without an estate plan in place, your property will be distributed according to Indiana law, which may not reflect your intent to provide for your spouse, minor children, or stepchildren.

Even if your estate planning needs are straightforward, an estate plan may help avoid family conflict in the future. As part of the estate planning process, we can assist you in preparing your will, trust, power of attorney, heath care representative designation, and living will.

Estate and Trust Administration

Whether your loved one’s estate plan includes a will, trust, or nothing at all, we can guide you through the administration process and provide you peace of mind during a difficult time.

As the beneficiary of an estate or trust, you may have questions about your rights and the administration process generally. We can answer those questions and ensure that your individual interests are represented in court proceedings.

If a loved one is not able to manage his or her own affairs, either because of advanced age or an unanticipated accident or injury, we can work with you to determine whether guardianship is appropriate.

If guardianship is necessary, we can help you to navigate the court system and to comply with the reporting requirements during the course of the guardianship.

Business Formation

When forming a business, there are a variety of business structures to choose from, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations.

We will work with you and your other trusted advisors to help you determine which business form meets your needs and to get your new business off the ground.

Buying or Selling an Existing Business

Whether you are acquiring an existing business or selling your interest in a business, we can serve as your advocate and make sure your interests are represented throughout the entire transaction

Business Consultation and Contract Review

As a business owner, you may have questions regarding your ongoing business operations.

We can help answer your questions and advise you as your business needs grow and change. We can also draft and review contracts with your specific business needs in mind.

Sale and Lease of Real Estate

Whether you are buying, selling, or leasing real estate, we can help you navigate the transaction and understand your responsibilities before the contract is signed.

We can also prepare the contracts and coordinate with the title companies, appraisers, and surveyors to close the deal.

Property Disputes

Whether the dispute involves the location of a property line, homeowner’s association rules, or a farm lease, we can help you determine the best way to protect your interests and resolve the issue.

Although some disputes may require litigation, others may be resolved by an agreement between the parties. With our experience, we can provide you with insight and options to help you solve your problem.

Zoning Issues

Zoning regulations can be an obstacle to your ability to use your property the way you envisioned.

Whether you are dealing with zoning enforcement issues or looking to obtain a conditional use permit or variance, we can help you present your case to the appropriate agency and serve as a trusted advocate to advance your goals.

Appellate Practice

If you are unhappy with the outcome of a trial, we can advise you regarding the appellate process, including the strict timelines for pursuing an appeal.

Because of our extensive appellate experience, we are familiar with the technical and procedural aspects of an appeal. We also bring fresh eyes to the case and can prioritize arguments for appeal.

Appellate Motions

Do not let the procedural requirements of the appellate process overwhelm you.

Having presented oral arguments to the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Supreme Court, we can represent all facets of an appeal, including motions for interlocutory appeals and petitions for transfer.

Motions Practice

Our in-depth knowledge of the trial rules and appropriate legal standards allows us to efficiently strategize, research, and draft motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment and to brief other issues.

By serving as co-counsel, we can help your clients use resources wisely while allowing you to focus on other aspects of case.
